Michael (Mick) Wright
Born in Hazelwood Castle (a maternity hospital during the second world war)
on the 19th January 1943.
Lived in Garforth.
He met Sonia in 1971 at a dance in Castleford , Mick was a good 'jiver' and enjoyed 'rock and roll'.
They were married in 1973 and moved to Bramham.
In 1974 Mick became involved with Bramham football team as manager.
The team would use the rooms in the White Horse pub (at the bottom of Tenter Hill) as changing rooms as there was no where else suitable.
Later a portacabin was installed on the top field for the team's use.
Mick was instrumental in getting a permanent changing facility built for home and visiting player's use on the playing field.
Mick left Bramham FC in 1998 and went to manage Tadcaster Magnets.
He came back to Bramham for a while, then occasionally returning to assist Tadcaster.
Mick worked for many years at Aberford Pine Works and Antiques.
Football has always been important to Mick right up until his death on March 28th 2018.
He leaves his wife Sonia - 3 children - Michelle,Lyndsey and Jason,
9 Grandchildren - Jodie, Cameron, Sophie, Billy, Megan, Molly, Lilly, Poppy and Freddie
4 Great Grandchildren - Oscar, Dexter, Shay and Scarlett.
Bramham Parish Council sponsored a Commemorative Plaque for Mick Wright
On the 21st December 2019 - Members of Mick's family, together with friends and various
present and past football club players, gathered at Bramham Sports pavillion to mark the unveiling of the plaque.
The plaque was mounted on the wall near to the main entrance.
