Description of 8-F Bowcliffe Hill
1. Two views of Bowcliffe Road. The first, probably early 20th century, is taken from near the entrance to College Lane where Bramham College Lodge stood and the second in about 2000 from a couple of hundred yards nearer to the village.
2. Troops in World War I marching up Bowcliffe Hill.
3. Two shots of the southern aspect of Bowcliffe Farm at the top of Bowcliffe Hill, a black and white of unknown date and a colour one dated about 2000.
4. A photo of the early 19th century Grade II listed building "The Fox Inn" now part of Bowcliffe Farmhouse with architectural details including the statement "possibly built as lodge to Bowcliffe Hall".
5. Press photos, possibly taken in the 1950s of dangerous overtaking on the bend (a known accident spot) by vehicles climbing Bowcliffe Hill before a white line was added in the centre of the road. |
