1. Grandfather Richard Sanderson and Grandma Doris stood in the street outside Bridge House will have been about the time they moved in in the mid 1920's , it was previously owned and run as a B&B by his mother.
2, 3. Richard was a bowler for the village team for as long as I could remember, which was amazing as he was blinded in one eye as a boy.
4. 'Token of Regard' by Bramham Cricket Club as Richard Sanderson had taken over 600 wickets since the second world war. He was presented with a solid brass fireside comapnion set.
5. - 6. Richard started the business in 1919 repairing bicycles the site then was a garden and orchard. He soon built the first garage as in the picture, the car was a model T Ford stripped down to use as a tractor.
7. It was around 1956 that he retired to Scarborough. Sat outside of the garage with my father Derek was around that same era, could have been after his retirement as he often popped back.
8. The presentation was for his services to the council, he had been Richard Sanderson better known as Dick. The lady in the picture is my Gran and the gentleman was a Mr Firth.
9. The present garage was built as I was leaving school to go to Tadcaster Grammar school so that was around 1956. My parents then moved into Bridge House.
The garage was built to house the haulage we had then which was flat bed trucks and the garage provided security when they were loaded.
