Section 5 - D Oglethorpe Toulston Clifford

Description of 5-D Oglethorpe

1. 2. & 3. Notes covering the period from pre-1000 to the 20th century mostly taken from Harry Speight's Lower Wharfedale (1902) which contains a chapter on Oglethorpe. On the final page is a copy of a rough sketch of the old hall by John Warburton FRS, who visited the hall in 1718

4. A photo, taken in about the year 2000, of the gatepiers and garden wall of Grade II listed Oglethorpe Old Hall Farmhouse, together with their architectural description

5. - 9. Details of families that occupied Oglethorpe Hall over the centuries recorded in copies of 5 pages of Chapter XXXIV of a book whose title is not given (but probably Harry Speight's 'Lower Wharfedale')

10. The Pedigree of Bishop Oglethorpe as recorded in the book copied in items 5 - 9.

11. The present day (C. 2000) Oglethorpe Hall seen behind the original gatepost and gatehouse.

12. & 13. A brief manuscript write up about Bishop Oglethorpe and the Oglethorpe family.

14. & 15. 'A Short History of the Oglethorpe Family' as recorded in Appendix 1 of a book of unknown title.
