Description of 33-G Bramham Park Website 1997
1. An introductory page to the website, dated 26 July 1997, giving the description of Bramham Park taken from Langdale's 'Topographical Dictionary of Yorkshire' of 1822. There is also a statement that the pages are intended for personal use only.
2 & 3 - A Walk in the Grounds
A short illustrated description of the garden, whose design is of French origin. It is still completely original, perhaps the only large-scale formal garden to survive virtually unchanged from the early eighteenth century.
4 & 5 - A Short Tour of the House
Originally planned by Robert Benson as a summer home for entertaining friends during the parliamentary recess, the house was built in 1698 in the style of a Florentine villa. The Hall, Library, East Room, Long Gallery and Mrs. Lane Fox's Sitting Room are described with accompanying photographs. Reference is also made to the old kitchens.
