Section 24-H Bramham in 1851 an Agricultural Community

Description of 24-H Conclusions

1. The village remained a traditional community  dependet on agriculture. It was run on a hierarchical basis with a number of gentry holding a dominant position. The structure dependent on the availability of  an inexpensive workforce.  Farm machinery had not yet made an impact.

2. Developments were to change the framework of the village but not until later in the century.

3. The interdependence of village society

In 1851 Bramham was still a traditional community little changed as yet by the urban industrial developments.
