Section 24-E Bramham in 1851 an Agricultural Community

Description of 24-E Employment I, Agriculture and Domestic Service

1. Section 1 Agriculture
The village economy was dominated by agriculture however there was a diversity of occupations which served the community.
The village at this time was largely unaffected by the industrialisation of urban areas.
In 1851Bramham had a healthy village economy.

2. The three tiers of society which were common to the traditional English village.;  wealthy landowners, trade and craftsmen, and labourers.
Two dominant groups are-those who work in agriculture and those who are in domestic service.

 Who were farmers? The three main groups were land owners, tenant farmers and labourers. The importance of relationship between landlords and tenants in the prosperity of the community. Acreage and the role of the land Agent.
