Description of 22-L Papers on Bramham College

1. Letter dated 1994 from Anthony Hoddinott who sent the documents

2. Beautiful copperplate letter dated June 12th 1864 from an 11 year old William Titley to his parents

3. Account of Bramham College and the education there

This reports that the college, formerly known as Bramham Biggin, was in the 18th century the home of the first Lord Headley. Around 1843 an educational establishment from Grimston Lodge transferred there and adopted the name Bramham College. The impressive appearance of the house and grounds are described on some detail.

4. Sunday Express article of 2nd Oct. 1994

Headed "Could your child write the letter?" the article gives a detailed description of the education experienced by William Titley at Bramham and compares it with a letter from an 11 year old pupil of 1994 from a school in Highgate, London
