Section 2 - A Farms in Bramham Parish

Description of 2-A Farms in Bramham Parish

1. & 2. Brief information on land ownership with a list of farmhouses in the village and of farm land locations, with asterisks marking the farms that were still in operation in 2000 Historically most farmers were tenant farmers. The 1841 census showed 24 farmers in Bramham parish.

3. Untitled - Two photographs - Firstly a black and white photo of a threshing machine (which appears to be a fairly early one despite having rubber tyred wheels). It was owned by by Mr. Lawn of the Farm at Bramham Cross Roads and in the 1930s and 40s he used to hire it out. Secondly a colour photo of a combine harvester apparently harvesting a field of wheat alongside Heygate Lane.

4. Untitled - Black and white photo of a corn stack looking complete with the stacker and picker on top of the stack and a farm hand standing on an almost empty horse drawn cart about to fork up another sheaf. Other farm workers and some ladies are also standing around - possibly celebrating the last load and Harvest Home?
