Description of 16-A Poll Tax List 1379
1. & 2. The introductory pages to the documents in items 3 to 11 - covering the Poll Tax for the West Riding of Yorkshire in 1379 as published by the Yorkshire Archaeological Society and Topographical Association in 1882.
3. & 4. pages 146 & 147 listing the names in the Wappentake of Barkston, including the people of Bramham, eligible for tax.
5. An explanation of who was liable for tax plus a list of occupations or status with a translation to the modern name if applicable
6. The statistics of numbers of taxpayers and various sizes of payments made in Wetherby and neighbouring communities in 1334 and 1379, plus the statistics of occupations in the area.
7. - 11. A list of names of people in the Wetherby area paying Poll Tax 1n 1379 and the amounts paid, including the list for Bramham (identical with the list in items 3 & 4). Bramham had 45 tax payers of whom 43 paid "iiij.d" (i.e. 4 pence?) the total tax paid being shown as "xixs. viijd." (19shillings and 8 pence?).
