Section 1-A Low Way - Town Hill - Church Hill

Description of 1-A Low Way Images

1. Colour photo of the junction of Town Hill and Low Way c.2000 showing the black painted Post Office (where Alan Booth was Postmaster) on the junction with the Methodist chapel on the left. Also an earlier black and white photo taken from the same position where the Post Office bears the name Brumitt & Booth and describes its main business as 'Grocers and Drapers. Boots and Shoes'.

2. A Yorkshire Evening Post black and white photo of Low Way taken from the western end, dated 27th September 1935, entitled "Old cottages in the village of Bramham". In the middle distance is a cloth capped man leading a pony and light cart.

3. Colour photos c. 1990s of the front of the Methodist chapel facing on to Low Way with a car and van parked in front of it, and of the white painted house situated at the other side of the entrance to Eastbrook Court from the chapel (No. 1 Low Way?).

4. Two black and white snow scenes dated January 1984, one looking up Town Hill and one looking along Low Way, plus a colour photo dated March 2000 looking up Town Hill showing the old Post Office on the left, now converted into a private residence.

5. Colour photo, dated 2000, of semi detached Hilldrop House and Hilldrop Cottage adjacent to the Methodist chapel on its left hand side, accompanied by a write up by Mrs. Catherine Jones resident in Hilldrop Cottage at that time. She says that Hilldrop Cottage was originally far larger and extended over where the Methodist chapel now stands; the older rooms have the appearance of a medieval hall-house but the later parts are probably 17th century.

6. Two colour photos, dated 2000, of 'Nidderdale & The Cottage' and Brook House.

7. Colour photos, dated 2000, of Tudor Cottage and Plum Tree Cottage. A paragraph about Tudor Cottage says it probably dates from the early 19th century and gives some information on its former inhabitants.

8. A colour photo of Gwent Cottage, dated 1999, is accompanied by a ground floor plan.

9. First Floor plan of Gwent Cottage.
