Welcome to Historic Bramham

Bramham is of ancient origin, owing to its geographical position and its subsequent placement close to strategic routes used by past generations, from Roman conquerors to modern travellers. Situated just off the Plain of York, and just south of the three fords of the Wharfe vital to Roman communications, Bramham has a history in some respects unusual for a place of its size.

Within this website you can explore the Ancient History of Bramham, how it evolved over the centuries, whilst retaining its individual character.

Read about the part the Romans played in the creation of Bramham - The Battle of Bramham Moor in 1408 - Its involvment with the English Civil War - The History of Bramham Park along with the interesting characters who lived there - The History of All Saints Church and much more.

Explore the fascinating Digital Archive which runs to over 3000 images, documents and plans, collated over many years by enthusiastic local historians.
